Experience the best that the mighty Zambezi river has to offer. The Barotse region is known for its BAROTSE TIGERS, often surpassing 15 pounds in size. Situated away from nearby villages, the population of fish are still large in number with various species available. On return we overnight at one of the top 10 waterholes; Elephant Sands. A must experience for all who enjoy travelling Africa.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Palapye (meeting point)
Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6pm, where you will meet your guide, receive your two-way radio and talk about the road ahead.

Key Information

It’s imperative that you attend the welcome meeting as essential information will be shared regarding the trip and passports and documentation checked.
Day 2 - Kasane
We depart after an early breakfast and make our way towards Kasane, northern Botswana. 
On arrival at Kasane, you will be allowed to briefly settle into your room before we head out for an incredible sunset cruise on the Chobe River.

Key Information

It is a long day on the road, but regular stops (within limits) will be made along the way. The aim is to depart early and to arrive just after lunch in Kasane. This will provide us with sufficient time to settle in and to be in time for the sunset cruise.
Day 3 - Upper Zambezi River
We depart again early after breakfast and make our way towards Western Zambia. We will cross two(2) borders for the day and aim to arrive early afternoon.
On arrival, you will be allowed to set up camp and enjoy the incredible view while our travelling chef will start with dinner preparations.

Key Information

The option exist for those who which to stay in the tented camp at additional cost. The main group will be camping and will most of our evenings be spent around the campfire.  
Day 4, 5, 6, 7 - Upper Zambezi River
This is the reason why you joined this experience - yep it is fishing time. The next four(4) days are totally dedicated to hunting the hunter of the Zambezi River, the Boratse Tiger Fish - often weighing more than 15 pounds.

Key Information

Departure on the fishing boats will take place early mornings after breakfast and we will only return late in the afternoon. Lunch will be prepared on an island each day, allowing sufficient time to rest between the morning and afternoon fishing sessions. 
Fishing gear can be made available on request, but needs to be arranged in advance. 
Day 8, 9 - Returning to Pretoria
Your experience is coming to an end, but not before we spend our last evening in Botswana at one of the top waterholes in Africa - Elephant Sands.

Both mornings we will depart early to cover the distances we need to travel.

No eating utensils nor cooking equipment is required. Meals when in the Upper Zambezi will be prepared by the travelling chef. Meals in Palapye, Kasane and Elephant Sands will be at the restaurant. Please note that on travelling days, lunch is not included.

Transport

This is a self-drive experience - no 4 x 4 is required, however, a high-clearance vehicle is recommended.

Transport for this experience can be made available at an additional cost - Depart from and return to Pretoria. 
Transport, if provided, is with a minibus (H1 or similar) and a trailer for luggage and camping equipment.
